Adventures of Bray Bray
"That's My Baby!" is the first in a series of children's picture books about the adventures of a little Black boy, nicknamed Bray Bray. Join Bray Bray on his real world adventures, making new friends and learning.
This series started when the author's first nephew turned 2yr. old and she went looking for children's picture books. She went to Barnes and Nobles and Books & Books in Miami and searched and searched for a book with a little Black boy on the cover for her nephew's age range. She was only able to find one! This inspired her to start a series of picture books about the everyday adventures that her nephew embarks upon.
She knew she needed an illustrator, so she reached out to her friend Joanah whom she attended college with at the University of Florida. Go Gators!
Joanah loved the idea and decided to join that same day.
Ashley and Joanah's hope is that this series will help to fill the gap in children's picture books, so that little Black boys will see children that look like them in the picture books they read. This series will highlight children of different races, ethnicities, gender, ability, and family background so that all children will see themselves in this series!
